Abstract: The resurgence of an ideal measures the failure of containment between the symbolic powers and ordinary powers of that ideal. Ideals of small resurgence tend to have nicer geometric properties. We prove a sharp upper bound for the resurgence of sums of ideals involving disjoint sets of variables, strengthening the work of Bisui–Hà–Jayanthan–Thomas. We also discuss some open problems on the resurgence of sums of ideals. This is from joint work with Do Van Kien and Le Minh Thuan.
